This may be a one of a kind image. I have not come across another like it.
It was a difficult image to capture. The Colobus live high up in the forest canopy and jump from branch to branch. An unobstructed view is difficult due to the dense foliage of their rain forest habitat. This photograph captures a mother Colobus in mid flight with her baby clinging on to her.
This mother Black and White Colobus money lives in the tree tops of the Kakamega rain forest. Her baby, all white, clings to her fur. After about a month, the infant Colobus' fur will change acquiring more and more black fur. It's the Colobus' beautify fur that has led them to be hunted drastically reducing their populations. The Colobus is unique among primates as it does not have a thumb.
